KERR/ORR/PARK LINEAGE




Excerpts from the book "THE KERRS --- 1708 TO 1898" by S.P. Kaler
Three brothers, Robert, John, and David came from Londonderry, Ireland in the spring of 1708 Robert and landed at Philadelphia.They were purely Scotch, having been in Ireland less than a year.

John located in Mecklenburg County, NC as early as 1720 or 1725. He had two sons; Robert and William. Robert lived to be 99 years of age and died at Charlotte NC on the farm where his father first settled. He had three sons: Hugh,John and William and three daughters. Two daughters never married and one married Elihu McCracken.

Military Notes:

Robert Kerr enlisted and served as a private with the North Carolina Troops as Follows:
was engaged against the Cherokee indians.
and in Col. Frances Lock's Regiment.
another tour under Capt. Thompson, when Cornwallis was in Charlotte; both tours amounting to about two months.
at which time he was living in Mecklenburg County, N.C., where he had lived since he was four years of age.
